A Golden Apple at TechEd 2006
From the Very First Apple II in a School to Apple iPod Giveaways Apple’s Technology in Education Presence is Clear.
Pasadena, CA – From a display by LO*OP that includes the first Apple Computer ever put into an educational institution to the popular Apple Labs to a number of Apple iPod giveaways from Exhibit Hall vendors, Apple Computer’s presence is clear at TechEd 2006, the 11th Annual Technology in Education Conference & Exposition being held March 26 – 29 at the Pasadena Conference Center in Pasadena, California.
“Apple’s support as a Gold Sponsor of TechEd is, in itself, an excellent example of the dedication Apple has to the future of Technology in the learning environment,” says William Neece, conference director.
But Apple didn’t stop there, by hosting the ever-so-popular Hands-On Labs, attendees from around the world can walk into a classroom and sit down at brand new iMacs in an interactive environment learning new programs and gaining new skills.
“The best way to learn is by doing,” says William, “and the Apple labs are a key element in ensuring that attendees at TechEd gain valuable skills to bring back to their institutions, directly benefiting their students.”
And that is not all. LO*OP, which sponsors the History of Computing in Education Project, is bringing the first Apple II computer placed into an educational institution as part of a great display on the history of computing.
Then there are the iPods. According to William, “At least four of our vendors are giving away Apple iPods -- so we really have the complete history of Apple at TechEd 2006!”
TechEd 2006 also includes PC-based labs hosted by Adobe and featuring software from several different companies and presenters from many different backgrounds.
